Default Urban Dictionary: Guild Wars

Although some of the site is completely idiotic, it's very funny to read some of the entries every once in awhile. On the first page everything is positive and makes sense, but then the second page...

Quote:
World of Warcraft for poor people.

"Guild Wars is free to play online."
Quote:

World of Warcraft for the poor man. Nuff said.

Guild Wars is why I get out of bed in the moring.
Quote:

...Boring
the poor man version of WoW

Person 1: Dude, wanna play WoW?
Person2: Sorry, I'm too poor so i can't see how much better WoW is than guild wars
person: ...you're lame
This is how most people think if they play WoW. Now here is one I couldn't quite grasp.

Quote:

A game that is like MMORPG and FPS combined.

Just like any other Asian game (this one by NCSoft), this one was good in beta, but got ruined after two weeks taht it went retail. Very repetitive and nerfed to hell.
The repetitive and nerfed to hell makes sense, but I don't understand MMORPG and FPS combined. Check it out the entries yourself they're pretty funny to read.

I like people who think Guild Wars is even remotely like WoW. Proves how stupid and ignorant they truly are.

I played WoW for a few months and got fed up with it a lot quicker than with GW. Every quest was "collect 10 of these", "kill 10 of those". Then there'd be the follow-up quests which would just be "collect 12 of those" then "kill 12 of these" which would just be a slightly different version of what you'd killed before.

I played casually up to somewhere over level 25 (don't recall, but it was under 30) before I cancelled the subscription. Admittedly I'd have cancelled a GW subscription long ago if any fees were involved. Would never have gotten it in the first place.

People who bash Guild Wars saying it's not as good as WoW are people who want to play a game like WoW.
Guild Wars is not like WoW.

That essentially are the 2 truths to the whole pissing contest.
They need to get that through their skull.
Otherwise they will be doomed to never understand how people like me left WoW to play Guild Wars. And their only reasoning will be to insult us.

I don't even play GW anymore. For the same reason I stopped playing WoW.
People get bored of things over time. They get bored for a reason.
Anyhoo, eventually they will figure out the progression of other people's motivation.

Haha, oh wow.

guild wars is boring because it's not a hueg GRIDAN GAEM, LOL.

Seriously. When I go and play other RPGs (coming from Diablo 2), I realize how spoiled I am because there is minimal grind in Guild Wars; after three years of playing, I've learned to like the fact that GW has a low level cap along with easy access to max items.

Well, I've play both, my guy on WoW being almost max level(70)

Let me tell you. It's a pain in the arse to level 55-70

I haven't played now for a few weeks. The leveling pissed me off so I'm playing GW again. Waaaay better for casual players. This is HANDS DOWN, the best f2p mmorpg.

I agree that the WoW quests are a little lame but some are pretty fun. At 60 there's a quest where you fly on either a gryphon or manticore and bomb the 2 faction's enemies.

Anyway, I enjoy GW's graphics. They're pretty Yes, the low level cap is actually a good idea. Many people get bored spending MONTHS getting to max level. In GW if you really wanted to in Factions or Nightfall you could get to 20 in a day or two.

Having 8 skills at once is great. It actually makes you think about your build. In WoW, you can have around 50 skills/spells in bars and you just do like "press action button 5>7>2>5" etc. Well, enough of a comparison...see you all around the forums!

Obviously. Only rich people can afford the internet and ~$18 a month for a game. Us poor people can only afford the internet.

It's not that I'm poor, I just don't want to pay to play a game that looks like shit with mediocre gameplay. Really prefer to play a free, equally horrible game instead while saving money to spend on better things.

Hate to break it to you, but thats how the true MMO community looks at GW.

"A poor mans MMO"

In many cases it's true.

To be competitive in GW you HAVE to buy every expansion on the release day. While the P2P still works out a little more costly, there isn't a huge difference. Now if you factor in the hardcore GW player who has bought numerous char slots, more accounts and maybe a few skill packs the price difference is insignificant.

WoW and GW are two separate and different games. Comparing them by using the same basis or standard for comparison is moot and ultimately pointless. They are both mmporpg and that's essentially where the similarity ends.

Now my personal opinion is that GW is better than WOW, even without the $$$/month issue; it really depends on the individual's preferences, as in most ambiguous things of life that we use to entertain ourselves.

first this, i'm casual, i've levelled to 70 within 2 months, and i got from 62-70 within 8 hours, what's the point ?

now this, having limited skills doesn't make you better, it makes you more vulnerable, And in WoW you only use 8 skilsl TOPS if you're lucky anyway, oh yeah you say WoW only presses 5>7>2>5 what do they do in GW; press 1,2,3,1,2,3,4,7,1,2,3. same thjing really

i play both games, everything has +'s and -'s but people that say stupid things about WoW/guild Wars deserves to get a headshot.
